The E.Fox MIDI Looper is a device that records musical performance data - transmitted using the MIDI protocol - and then plays it back on a loop. It is like an audio-looper but it captures MIDI performance data instead of sound.
It works like this:
The E.Fox MIDI Looper can be put on the floor and operated as a foot pedal. Press the button once to start recording, press the button again to stop recording and start looped play-back.
The E.Fox MIDI Looper supports the playback of 8 different loops simultaneously.
By using dedicated hardware to implement the looping feature, latency and timing jitter is reliably limited to within the region of 0.2 ms (two ten thousandths of a second). This offers a level of accuracy and precision that cannot be promised with software running on non-dedicated hardware (such as MIDI Looper software for Android also developed by Earnest Fox).
The E Fox Midi Looper is being produced in limited quantities from a small artisanal manufactory in Hastings, England. It is presently only available for sale in the UK. Please be aware that this item can be classified as home-made. For an item that looks in every respect like it has been mass produced in a factory ( e.g. injection moulded rather than 3D printed components ), buyers are advised to look elsewhere.
